Our GOAL at Cradle 2 Kinder is to have each child feel welcome, acknowledged and cared for as a unique individual, in a home-like environment. Building on How Does Learning Happen?, our Emergent Curriculum is based around the foundational conditions that are important for children to grow and flourish: Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement, and Expression. Children are encouraged to discover, explore, and challenge their environment with emphasis on success and safety within limits that are sensible and consistent. Our goal is that each child will develop socially, emotionally, cognitively and physically. Emphasis is placed on socialization, co-operation and cognitive development. We have an open door policy for our program, and parents are welcome to come at any time, should they wish to participate in an activity that goes on during our scheduled program time.
Our Programs are developed and designed to:
Our Classrooms are organized in a manner to facilitate learning in children. All items and materials such as toys, blocks, books etc are easily accessible to the children visually and physically. All the bins are labelled with words and pictures to assist children. Our curriculum recognizes that children have different learning styles and that they actually learn as much or more from running as from learning to pronounce a letter sound. We will provide outside time and free exploration daily, and we will support the varied learning styles – visual, auditory, sensory, verbal, etc.
Our Infant program is specialised for babies from 3 months – 18 months and follows a ratio of 1:3. Our well qualified and experienced Educators provide a large level of interaction with the child; individually nurturing each child with lessons geared to the child’s developmental level; introducing activities that help boost language and communication skills, with experiences involving all of the child’s senses in a safe and enriched environment. Infants learn how to express emotions, observe, focus, engage with other kids, eat their own meals independently and learn their initial self-help skills. Our infant program runs from 7am-6pm Monday through Friday.
Our Toddler program provides learning activities for children of ages 18 months -2.5 years of age. The ratio is 1:5 in the Toddler room. Toddlers learn language and mobility skills through interaction with our educators, their peers, parents and physical environment. Our Educators also encourage toddlers to use their new skills to solve problems, make choices and practice self-help skills thus empowering our toddlers with independence and a high self esteem. Our toddler program runs from 7:00am-6pm Monday through Friday.
Our junior preschool room is designed for children of ages 2.5 years to 3 years and 2 months of age with a ratio of 1: 8. Our first and most important goal with emergent curriculum is to inspire delight, curiosity, and inquiry in the classroom. Doing so has been proven to build intrinsic motivation (coming from within the child) and a long-term love of learning. These are the greatest gifts our Educators give a child in preparation for their primary school experience. Our Educators help to develop preschooler’s budding interests and skills that will last a lifetime. Our Children are introduced to various academic subjects through lively participation such as science projects, literary activities, dramatic play, and daily read-alouds. Our preschool program runs from 7:00 am-6pm Monday through Friday.
